  • Trip Idea

I finally got around to the December 2008 BMW ON magazine and read an article by Bill Luring who had done a ride to Newfoundland during the summer. Bill, who lives in Vermont, picked up his riding buddy in Maine and together they rode up to Nova Scotia to get the ferry crossing to Newfoundland.

The article spoke of great seafood, beautiful scenery, and wonderful people and had pictures of fishing villages, icebergs with seals, and whales.

The idea of seeing icebergs, whales, seals, and fishing villages is pretty exciting.

I have already been kicking around the idea of making the trip to Quebec to go to the Quebec BMW Rally and to visit my friend Gilbert Piccard in Montreal. There are many things I would like to see there after listening to stories from both Gilbert and Jean-Francois. Jean-Francois was born in Gaspe and then moved to Sherbrooke outside Montreal.

  • Introduction

This “blog” is for motorcycle trips done by Jean-Francois Chabot and Gale Smith. For more information about each of us you can look at http://www.motorcycle-journeys.com/about/about.html.

We will post information here as we’re planning, while we’re doing the ride, and then follow up afterward with gear reviews, recommendations, etc.

Most of the posts will probably be by me (Gale) since English is a second language for Jean-Francois who was born and raised speaking French in Quebec and writing in English is not his favorite thing. Hopefully he will add things occasionally so there is another perspective other than my own.
